Is it Biblical to cleanse a home with burning sage also known as smudging?

Smudging derives from a Native American ceremony in which certain herbs are burned to “purify” or “bless” a home to rid it of negative energy, ghost, and spirits and restore positive energy. Individual People can be “smudged,” too. The practice of smudging is NOT mentioned in the Bible.

Smudging is usually done with smudge sticks, bundles of herbs that can be purchased or made with sage, cedar, sweet-grass, lavender, etc. During the smudging ceremony/ritual of a home, the person smudging is encouraged to focus his or her energy and control breathing. Sometimes it is encouraged for people leave the smudge stick, or herbs outside the front door, thinking it has protective power. This is also a deception.

Some people also smudge themselves or others by directing the smoke around their body and through their aura. This is thought to cleanse them of negative or stagnant energy. Auras are the occult/witchcraft notion that human beings and other living creatures emanate subtle energy fields or fields of colored light, surrounding us like circles of power.

As with all New Age teachings, there is no biblical basis for belief in smudge sticks, auras, vibes, or household energy. The Word of God tells us that God protects His children from evil (2 Thessalonians 3:3). We Christians do not trust in pagan rituals (which is sin) but in God our Savior, and the Lord Jesus Christ. God is the source of life, of all that is good and true. God promises, “The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore” (Psalm 121:7–8). He will provide the strength and peace we need to make it through any test.

The devil and demons are not cast out by smoldering sage; our refuge is the Lord alone (Proverbs 18:10). As a matter of fact, it strengthens their camp and can add more demons! God provides us with powerful tools and authority to stop the enemy’s spiritual attacks (Ephesians 6:10–17). Smudging is not of God. If you have partook in this, please repent and seek deliverance.

My husband just looked up the verses listed above and found they ACTUALLY say all will find protection and safety in the Lord. None of the claims, referencing the Bible were true, my husband claims that is what is wrong with the world today, “Christians” who make up their own negative or delusional claims with no actual Biblical or Traditional Christian foundation. Infinite forgiveness for beating torturing and killing the son of god, or mansions in the sky to name a couple examples. The FACT is if it isn’t about positive reinforcement, One-ness with god and mother earth and the protection of the circle of life it’s made up bs. Lol, references to new world spiritual practices in a 1600 year old book from Israel/Rome/England

Thank you for clarifying this as I do agree that with the lack of Knowledge we tend to make so many mistakes in our walk with Christ.
It would however be good, that further advice be given as to what a person could do to receive God’s Protection. For example, in conjunction to paragraph 4, our confession through faith in Christ, so that His Grace and Mercy may abound in our lives as we daily walk with Him in our prayerful relationship with Him and Basking in His presense through our Prayers, Praise and Thanksgiving.
Thank you once again for sharing
